8.  What is the coefficient of determination and why is it important?

Answer
Coefficient of Determination: The proportion of variance in Y that can be explained by the relationship between X and Y. In other words, it is a measure of the amount of variation in the Y-scores that is common with the variation in the X-scores. It is important because it is an indication of the strength of the relationship between X and Y.
